Rotary Peace Center at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand
Packing to go Home but
this Time not Alone; Will be Travelling Back with “Peace”
It is week eleven in Bangkok,
Been here since beginning to January,
from 09.00 am to 16.00pm a week days,
have been learning about theories of peace and conflict resolution
have been practicing these theories in the field.
Yes, just a few days left in this city,
We will be flying out with peace and its tools,
to our personal life, to our workplace and to our society.
Just like Bhichai Rattakul told us on the very first day:
The programme created by him to make peace builders in the world
for their own societies to make peace possible and spread
from individuals to all humanity.
For sure we are, all people, already somehow peace makers in our little world;
We make peace for our family,
for our loved ones and somehow for our community.
For sure that, as peace fellows we will have chance to work on any level of the peace building process now and some of us will be so successful.
Working as a third party
for social justice,
human rights, gender issues,
tackling discrimination, equal rights, environmental justice,
national security, rights for children, rights for refugees
and many other fundamental freedoms,
and will make a better life for those people who need it.
Some of us were born and live in a conflict
and will be making peace as a first or second party in the conflict.
They will be there for a longer journey;
The long journey which needs to start from individual’s soul and heart.
Able to share,
Able to communicate,
Able to learn,
Able to understand,
Able to commit,
Able to have strength to protect,
Able to give up,
Able to respect,
Able to forgive,
Able to apologize,
Able to be sincere,
Able to empathize,
Able to love those who are different..…and see the needs.
Those will not need to be the third party in the conflict to be able to succeed.
Peace is possible,
As long as we are here to share,
We are here to give up some of our interest,
To those in need.
Peace master Gandhi says:
I offer you peace. I offer you love.
I offer you friendship. I see your beauty.
I hear your need. I feel your feelings.
My wisdom flows from the Highest Source.
I salute that Source in you.
Let us work together for unity and love.
Yes, we all be offering what we can.
Packing now to leave this city,
We’ll be taking a long journey to home
I will be hoping to be a peace ambassador.
I do not know now if I will be a successful peace ambassador
what I know for sure that I will be a successful Thailand cultural ambassador throughout my life!
After living in this country for three mouths and having many experiences with Thai people who have the warmest and friendliest smiles with great hospitality.
It has been a great three months of experiences and thank you to everyone who has put even a little effort in me being here.
